Tableau for Students Program has shifted over to providing free software through Tableau Desktop Public Edition. While the products are similar in visualization capabilities, the process to get a free license is now much easier.
Nope! Once you sign up on Tableau Public and download, it is yours to use to learn for free, no renewal required.
Absolutely! No additional documentation is required.
No, if your professor needs you to publish your assignments in Tableau Cloud, you must ask your professor to request a course software to get Tableau Desktop for the class. Tableau Desktop: Public Edition is unable to publish to Tableau Cloud, and you can only publish to Tableau Public.
